YEa but even still if the IS-F has launching problems you let off the gas and wait for the tires to hook up. If your just mashing the gas and gettting crazy wheel speed your probably gonna spin out or be kicked out for messing around. The drag strip wants to keep the track as safe as possible. And you would think that older driver would have IS-F's. Aren't all IS-F's auto as well. IF they're that bad how do you leave stop lights and stop signs.

Kinda Right...

Thats why this is a DRIVER issue..

The F doesn't have launching problems. You just have to learn how to launch one.. The same applies to an IS350, its just a bit easier with less hp to the wheels.

I can get wheel spin in 2nd and 3rd gear, and I don't have to try that hard with the Trac & Vsc OFF..

Since, this was the drivers 2nd time ever, at a drag way (1/8th of a mile), he probably would have done better with the Trac & Vsc left ON..

If you can't launch the car correctly with the Trac & Vsc turned OFF, your runs will be horrible if wheel spin occurs.

On a 1/8th mile race track, once you get wheel spin there is really no point in trying to recover, since the race is over in under 9 seconds..

I covered that in post# 23....

I might just go out next week to get some 1/8th mile numbers dialed in..

JoeZ keeps saying 'driver', but I'm not sure how true that is.

Is the IS-F a more powerfull car? Yes. Is it also though a heavier car? Yes. Is it a V8 with ubber power up high? Yes again. Does the IS350 have ubber power down low? Ding ding ding!

We all know the IS350's power range is 0-60, Lexus tuned its power down low. Now race an IS-F from a 60mph roll and it would of been an ENTIRLEY different story.

This race is very possible. The only thing supprising me is that the IS-F wasn't neck and neck with the IS350... for that, yes I'll agree 'driver'.

Isn't there a member here that had an IS350, then traded in for an F (not remembering his name) but I believe he has in his signature his IS350 and IS-F 1/4 mile times... they are only tenth's of a second apart...

I say 1/4 mile or 0-60 its head to head, from a roll the F will slaughter and flex its 8 cylinder power.

^^ Umm the F ran 10 seconds in its first pass and ended the run at 60mph..

I would say letting off the gas pedal played a small role..

The second pass was closer.. But again this was the drivers second time EVER at a race track..

I've raced my 350 head to head with an F at a 1/4 mile track.. All I saw was doors, rear bumper and then eventually tail lights and car lengths by the end of it..

I decided to dig this up just for kicks..

The member is our very own "Caymandive"

He had a nicley modified IS350 with exhaust, intake, springs, etc...

Then got an F..

Below was his best ever run in his modified IS350

1/4 Mile ET: 12.844
1/4 Mile MPH: 109.200
1/8 Mile ET: 8.287
1/8 Mile MPH: 85.570
0-60 Foot ET: 1.951
Temperature F: 35.0

Below is is best ever run in his virtually stock IS-F...

1/4 Mile ET: 12.385
1/4 Mile MPH: 115.010
1/8 Mile ET: 8.077
1/8 Mile MPH: 91.010
0-60 Foot ET: 1.945
Temperature F: 41.0

I would like to add he is very Experienced in properly launching an IS350 & IS-F and of course racing at a 1/4 mile dragway...
(best track records to date)

Regards,

Joe Z

Short story conclusion:

Both cars are seriously fast and the IS-F is significantly faster than the IS350. No surprises here. Are the comparable IS250 specs available?
