Do you guys think that that dash mark in my photos is an imperfection in the vinyl or an actual scuff? How could it be nearly identical on four cars i checked including mine plus one member mentioned in their post they had one too in the same area??? Is this the mark of Lexus??? Kidding aside, can this be treated as a typical scuff?

Yes please do, or better yet send samples to a lab for analysis and post the results.

Door panels are plastic, dash is a rubberized material or coating.

The door is coated with the same stuff as the dash. The dash (safety pad) has foam underneath with a plastic substructure. The door has no foam and has a plastic substructure. The coatings (the surfaces) are exactly the same.

More info from Toyota.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Even though you are clearly mistaken. I just went down to my car, on the off chance you might be right, but sorry to tell you, they are clearly different finishes on their respective surfaces. Just touch them, it's pretty obvious.

That's exactly what I did. Scraped my elbow on the door. Got a white streak. Scraped my elbow on the "safety pad." Got a white streak. Both came off with a damp sponge.

You have any skin left on that elbow?

The mark on my dash did not come out with a damp sponge or with "simple green" cleaner. Again, it probably was in the vinyl material when it was delivered from the factory as i've found the nearly identical mark on other cars...
It is much different than the common scuffs you would put on the doors getting out of the car. In the few months I've had the car, the door ones usually come out with water or detail spray. The dash on mine also is shiner than the doors or the glove box which is more of a matte black...

any idea on what it is and how it occurred???
