Default Does your IS have a 6 inch scuff-like mark on the dash?

Hi everyone. I recently purchased an '09 IS350 here in socal (black int.) and noticed a 6-7 inch scuff-like horizontal line across the driver's side dash. I also found it on three other random IS's I checked in parking lots/dealerships, so this may be a factory issue I'm guessing. (checked on a 2009 is250, 2006 is350, 2008 is250 -- did not find it on 5 other 09's checked) It is usually visible if you park under a flourescent light roughly 6 or more feet above the car (i.e. dealership lights) or if you use a flourescent flashlight and hold it slightly above the windshield indoors. When you look at it at an angle through the windshield leaning towards the drivers seat standing next to the side view mirror, it can be seen clearly. It is roughly the thickness of a wedding ring band and it runs across the dash about 6-7 inches long. You can also see it under sunlight when the sun is at an 70 degree angle above the car, otherwise you won't see it at all which is the strangest thing about it. Any ideas on what it is & how to get rid of it? I have searched the boards & have not found any info regarding this...Please check out my pix. Thanks.

I know, not a common place to look. I guess the parking ticket officer usually can get a good look though. Never thought to look there when i bought it.

Ya, the IS dash scuff if you look at it wrong. I don't know what material they use, but once you scuff it, it's there for life.

I've noticed my scuff for about three years now. I think it came with it as I'm careful when cleaning.

I hate how our dash material leaves scuff marks. My friend had an 06 ISx50 and had tons of scuff marks, especially passenger side. After seeing that and getting my ISx50 two years later, I'm real careful about telling my passengers not to scratch the dash.

Mine comes right off. Every time I put my elbow on the driver's side door I see streaks like this. I take them off with a damp sponge. Works every time.

Dash material IS NOT the same as doors. Dash shows marks, the doors do not!

Umm. OK. Do you want me to post the relevant documentation describing the dash and door cover materials? I could also post pictures of the marks from my elbow on the top of the door panel. Would that work?

They are identical.

Please do!
I've been trying to figure out how to get out the scuff on the glove box. I used water and a microfiber and it helped to cover it up, but didn't totally get it out.

I have those too but I use vinyl cleaner by armor all. it covers it up for 1 month and then you have to reapply it. Fine with me ..

Yeah, I get those marks too when I rest my elbow or bump up against that material in my car. I use some spray vinyl/rubber cleaner by Meguiars. It works well for me.
