I don't know, I can't find the rim size specs for the 17" on the 350 or 250. On the 350, the tire size on 17" rims are different between the front and back (225/45 and 245/45) and the 250 (at least AWD) is the same all around, 225/45/17. I don't know if the 17" rims on the 250 have different widths on front and back. I assume the 250 is the same all around.

I want to find a used set of stock 17" rims that I can throw on the same size winter tire on all four corners.

the 17's are all the same. they are a 17x8 rim for both the is250 and is350. the 18's that comes on the 350's are really optional equipment but the 18's are a staggard setup and come with pretty much every is350 and rwd 250.

i use my stock 17's with my all season yoko's and their great. however i am awd, so a dedicated winter tire will be better for you

Nope, this is not true.

I live in Minneapolis. And it gets very snowy here. I have a second set of wheels solely for winter driving. Bridgestone Blizzaks LM 25V mounted on a staggered set of Kazera 18" alloy wheels. The tire specs are 225/40/18 front and 255/40/18 rear. My IS350 drives as good as my Land Rover (as long as I'm not going up the side of a mountain)! At factory height (I'm not dropped), snow clearance in the wheel housing has never been a problem. The car handles very well in light and heavy snow. Sure, thinner wheels might help some, but nothing you would notice in the snow. The Bridgestone Blizzak's tread design is the key, not the minimal difference in width.

Thanks for the info. Though, If I'm going to buy another set of rims for winter, it's probably easiest to find a set of used 17" stockers for cheap. There is also some benifit from having a slightly narrower tire though it sounds liek from your experience, even the stock tire size for the 18" rims works well also...

Great thanks for the info ! Just picked up my IS350 3 weeks ago and I'm planning to use my stock 18" (staggered) as winter rims and get a new set of 19" for the summer.
