In tandem with the quality of the glass, which should be produced by a reputable make, at least, is the installer actually replacing the windshield. If they don't know or care about what they are doing, you can have the best quality glass in the world, and still have water leaking, wind noise, or some other unwanted effects.

Got it fixed yesterday and it still looks like crap. That damn circle and to me what looks like dirt trapped in the windshield is driving me insane! Plus there is a hairline fracture (what I call it) that know will grow over time.
They said if im not happy with the work they will refund the insurance co. thier money...guess what....I'm not happy.

I don't understand how these are so expensive? The Porsche dealership replaced the cracked windshield on my dad's Cayenne S for just under $700... and that's Porsche, who overcharges for every damn thing. How is Lexus getting away with charging $1600-2000?

Just had my windshield replaced on my 2008 IS 350 which I bought new in January. A rock hit and I didn't even notice anything.. then later there was a huge crack half the size of the windshield. Had it replaced by Safelite (who my insurance automatically transferred me to when I called to claim it). They went with Pilkington glass.
But... when I'm on the highway driving fast, I can hear wind noises from it. Also, yesterday the rearview mirror fell down. I'm leaving it at Safelite tonight for them to correct everything

Yep. I had my windshield replaced with the PPG brand a while ago, and had no issues whatsoever.
