Default DFW Area, TX Only: IS250/350 True Cold Air Intake guinea pig/test car wanted.

Hello everyone. I don't post much in this section but I want to build a new part for this car, specifically a true cold air intake. I've been looking all around the net for a cold air intake on for a 2IS and it seem like it just doesn't exist. There are people on ebay claiming to have a cold air intake for the 2IS, but it's simply a short ram with a heat shield. I want to build one that actually extends down into the bumper area.

I'm going to custom fab a prototype intake, but I need to borrow someones car to test on. It will only take me about 4-6hours or so to build it, and you can supervise while I'm doing it if you want to. Of course you will get a free intake once it's done for being the guinea pig. My friend sold his 2IS so I no longer have a car to test with...so I'm triyng to find another car

A few questions I need answered if you guys are willing.
- Are the current short ram intakes for the IS250/350 the same? Or do the two engines have different angled bends and diameters?
- Are you willing to remove the bumper to install an intake?
- Are you willing to cut a hole somewhere(inconspicuous and hidden in the engine bay) to intall a cold air intake?
- Which of the current intakes on the market performs/sounds the best? Honestly they should all be the same since all the ones available now are just short rams, but I just want to know anyway.
- Is this even something that anyone will be interested in? No point of me spending time into this project if nobody is interested.

Anyways, if there are and DFW guys that want to volunteer as the development car please let me know. I'm located in Plano close to Frisco. Please PM me details of your car such as what other mods, what year, 250 or 350, and whatever you feel like listing. Since this is for development, the closer you are to me and the more easily you can be contacted will put you higher up in my consideration list. I need feedback on the products as well, so if you're easy to contact and get feedback from, there will be future opportunities for more free stuff in the future as well

Again, you will get a free intake once the intake is finalized. You won't get an intake on the day of the custom fabrication. It should take about 1-2 months or so for me to get you the finalized piece to test in your car.

MODS: I'm not selling anything here. I only want ONE car as a test platform. Possibly 2 cars if the IS250/350 are different. That's IT.

I am willing to take my bumper off, I am willing to cut holes, I am interested in it once you do it, and Id be way down for this if were in DFW. I could be wrong but I have tried 3 different intakes. The Joe-Z is my favorite because it keeps the simple look of the engine bay. The injen sounded the best put I felt like I lost power up top. Fujita? I gave the thing away... Plus a cold air would make it easier for me to hide my nitrous lines

The Joe Z isn't a short ram (nor is the F-sport) they retain the stock airbox (mostly, in the case of the F-sport) but replace the intake pipe with a better one.

Generally the short-rams are louder, but likely to suck hotter air than the Joe/F-sport design. None of them add more than ~5 hp though, thinking being there's just not much to gain on the intake side of the car. (testing has already shown the stock intake provides more air volume than the engine can use).

I'd probably be ok taking a bumper on/off, but I doubt I'd cut holes unless this added a -significant- performance gain over the Joe Z/F-sport design, and I think that'd be pretty unlikely.

Oh, and the 250/350 will be the same intake-wise

IMO the Fujita Short Ram sounds the best but from what i know, thats because Fujita has a different Cone Filter than others

There's really no interest for a true cold air intake? Two days and only 9 replies on this thread, I guess it's not worth my time to design this then lol.

I would get it if it is louder than the F-sport. More gain than the F-sport. And at a reasonable pricing.

I'd be willing to do it if I were still in the DFW area... :/
Right now I'm in Houston for school. My only concern is that it floods a lot in Houston (yesterday we had some heavy rain for a few minutes and the streets on campus looked like a small stream... :/)
