Yeah, boo Canada. All of our cars have huge markups.

no problems with my trans. however, i would recommend the f-sport quick shifter for a much more positive feel.

Unless you're planning to do a lot of off-roading there's not much reason to get the AWD. Buy a 350 and pick up an extra 100+ horsepower instead.

350 is the way to do an IS

if you get the 250 right now eventually you will test drive the 350 somewhere along the way and end up trading it for the 350. so, to avoid the hassle, just get the 350.

Some people have used same logic, and suggested just getting the IS-F. (to avoid the hassle)

Thing is, the price/performance jump from 250->350 is a lot better deal than from 350->F. You're talking ~2 seconds off your 1/4 mile/0-60 times for about 4k... versus around .5 seconds off for 10-15k.

F is faster but it costs a LOT more as well.

I love my 6MT and would only go auto if it was a 350.

But honestly for daily driving in the city at least you would notice the difference between a 250 and 350. The MT just makes it a hell of a lot funner.

Do yourself a favor and drive the car. I think that it isnt bad for a four door. There are better manuals out there but they generally belong to sport cars/2 doors. The Audi a4, mercedes 300 arent better (as some would lead you to believe). (Ive owned both).

The bmw has the best manual of the bunch. I really dont know why some insist that mileage is as bad as advertised but from my experience, I average 9.5L/100km vs 12/100km for the is 350.
Hope this helps.

I tried and tried to get on the same page as the 6sp manual but I just couldn't - having driven BMWs for 30 years, I kinda got spoiled by manual transmissions that worked the way they're supposed to. But no matter how hard I tried. I just couldn't get the IS250 6sp to shift smoothly. So I got the auto and haven't been to disappointed.

Why did I switch from BMW to Lexus? Have you looked at a BMW lately?

For some reason the higher-end car manufacturers don't seem to make a very good manual transmission. I'd even go as far as saying that BMW's manual trannies are rather subpar compared to other brands'.

Stick with the automatic transmission. It not only performs better but it is much more convenient. I wouldn't trade my 8-speed automatic for anything else in the world right now.
