Hey i got home today and realized 1 of my headlights was out. I have the Stock HID kit that comes with premium package can i by a brighter bulb like 6000k for my car without getting a HID conversion kit with 6000k? or do the OEM HIDs only work with stock replacement bulbs?
Thanks!
Thanks!

if the factory warranty has already expired, consider aftermarket bulbs.
you can pick up a pair of 6000k d4s bulbs from our CL vendors or from ebay - or even on a rare occasion in the 2is classified section.
however, aftermarket bulbs are finicky at best, and may or may not last as long as the oem phillips bulbs. whether it's the 2is oem HID system being finicky, the quality of the bulbs themselves, or just a run of bad luck, i wouldn't be able to tell you.

And if you do choose to go 6000k, you don't need a kit because the ballast/etc are already in your car from your stock HID kit. You only need the bulb

Thanks guys for your help. i just figured that the bulb if thats what it is wasn't under warranty. my factory warranty is still in effect though so i guess i will just have them replace it. I would like the 6000k look though... so if i went that route is there anything i need to look for or can i just buy say 2 6000k sylvania or other brand bulb in the 9006 size or is there anything else i should be looking for?

^ thanks, but i just added a few thoughts of my own to kloh7's original post. credit goes to him for suggesting that first.
i don't believe the oem HID bulbs are considered a "consumable" item (see: brake pads, tires, etc.), or an item that requires regular replacement. as such, i would think that replacing a burnt-out oem HID bulb qualifies as a warranty repair.
