is it possible to just replace the door speakers with some aftermarket speakers such as infinite or polk audio etc.. and still use the stock amp that came with the car? is there a specific ohm load on the speakers? any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

Yes, you can, but I doubt you'll gain a measureable diffference in s.q. The stock speakers are 4 ohm and aren't all that bad of quality. The stock tweeters are a decent soft dome, and the mids are a higher quality for stock speaker. The sub is a big fat no, the factory amp doesn't have the power to drive an aftermarket sub. The amp has built in electronic crossover points that are not applicable to an aftermarket 2 way setup. Furthermore, to use the provided passive crossover in an aftermarket set, you would first have to re-combine the 6.5" mid with the 3'/tweeter channels. It's all or nothing, either you replace all of the drivers and add multiple channels of amplification and recombine the factory channels into a homogenus (full frequency) signal, or live with the stock setup. Oh, you can try to go half way and cobble up something, but you'll probably end up worse off than just leaveing well enough alone. Or do like I did and replace all of it.
