Default Thanx for helping me choose my shoes, 1 more ? though

Thanks to all who helped me decide which wheels to get. I have decided to get the schwerts sc1 in 19's. Just ordered them, hope they get here soon. I have one more question. Im dropping her soon, but I have a stupid question. I want this to be an investment. Will getting coilovers save me money in the long run? I heard that if I get springs, Ill eventually have to replace shocks, struts, etc. Will I have to replace them if I get coilovers? If I dont, Ill bite the bullet on the coilovers. thanks for the help guys.

Cars and car modifications are horrible investments unless you buy super rare collectible cars. On a side note, life is short so go all out if you have the means.

I would say using springs and stock shocks will be cheaper in the long run. Your stock shocks won't last as long but I'm guessing you'll get a good 60-80k out of them depending which springs you get and how you drive. Most coilovers needs to be rebuilt around 20-40K.

"Investment" is probably not the right term. If you would like to adjust the ride height and dampening, you want coilovers. If you want a standard drop and be done with it, get springs.

A shock + (lowering) spring coilover is functionally the same thing as an aftermarket adjustable coilover, and will require the same maintenance. Both options of course use shocks, which are wear items and will eventually have to be rebuilt or replaced. The only reason you'd be "saving money" going directly with an adjustable coilover is avoiding the installation charges from first going with springs only if you ever want a different ride height. With lowering springs, you need to buy new springs, remove old, install new, sell old, etc... If you have adjustable coilovers a few turns with a spanner wrench will accomplish that without installation charges.

nice wheel choice!!!....on your offset. Did you opt for an agressive offset? or stuck with a conservative width. In which case you would want just springs for a clean look. If you got an agressive offset and wanted a more flush look than coils would be a better option since you have better height adjustments. Either way choose what you want the first time and be happy with it since you would only want to do this once...as Javy mentioned. Good luck!

I'd go with coils before lowering springs! That way you have the flexibility of ride height when ever you choose. If you really want to spend the money I would go air.
