Default winter rubber

I posted this in the tire forum but there's barely any traffic there, so I'm gonna try here.

1. Right now I have a IS250 RWD with stock 17"x8.0" wheels.

Should I keep running a staggered setup for winter (F:225/45/17 and R:245/45/17) or run the same size all around(225/45/17). (I heard thinner wheels are better for winter tires) I'm gonna use the stock rims as winter rims.

Can I run any tires thinner than 225 without any problems?

2. Any winter tires out there that can outperform the bridgestone blizzaks ws-60?

thanks in advance.

I had OEM spec size tires on 17" take off rims from Tire Rack. I had Blizzak LM25 and they did a great job. I would stick to the correct size and you have a good 6 mos, I assume, that you will need to use them where you are located. That is close to what we use them for in Chicago.

u could go as small as 215-45-17.. that tire's rim width spec is 7" to 8". just stick with 225-45-17 on all 4 corners if u'r worried about speedometer differences.
