Gas mileage
Has anyone noticed that your avg mpg/tank avg mpg is about 10% greater than the mpg you're actually getting when you compute it manually? I.e. Miles driven divided by gallons of fuel used. Just wondering. You'd think a computer would be more accurate than + or - 10%. My other cars computer are much more accurate relative to the actual mpg.

ok so my gas light just went on today.
my tank avg is 22.8
my mileage since last fillup is 278
our tank is 17 gallons.
so do the math, technically i should have about a 5 gallon buffer from when the light goes on until im running on fumes.

As for your miles left : it's not accurate. The computer bases it on past driving style, etc. That's what i'm guessing. In the mercedes it bases it on the last 50 miles.
Avg mpg : it's been pretty close for me. I got the car specifically for commuting so I have my eye on this. Fill up your tank to full, drive around and note the miles, refill to find out how much you used. Do the math and you'll find out it's pretty close. The only time it's NOT close is if you accelerate all the time like your car is on cocaine.
