I have on 06 IS350 and paid $467 this year in VA. The way it is calculated in my jurisdiction is on 01 Jan the NADA guide value for a Clean Trade-In with average miles is what value they assess unless you can prove your vehilcle is in much worse condition. The tax rate varies but next year with the car being over 4 years old I should be well below 400. Also the first 20k in value is at a reduced rate. After that you pay the full amount on the value over 20K.

typhoon44. I live in Northern Virginia. The registration for one year is $50.75 (on-line). What you're referring to is the annual personal property tax, which varies from county to county in VA. Up here in Fairfax County it's a little over $700 for my 2008 IS250. Of course, it goes down every year because it's tied to the value of your car, so in 5 years, it will be much less.

my registration is up in another 2 months or so. scary to think the registration fee will be around $400 bucks!

man i think its just unfair here in CA ..... I drive on the same road as the people that are paying $50 for registration fee.

i guess that is why the standard of living is so high up here in CA
