I have searched for a while and cannot find anyone that has had similar problems with their nav.
I will be driving, and it will lock on to a target right near by. I can press the "map" button and it will focus on me again. Other times....it wont lock on elselwhere, the cursor will start drifting away as if i'm scrolling. Again hitting the "map" places it on me again. Other times, it wont respond to touching the nav screen. Restarting my car helps when it's frozen. sometimes it happens frequently sometimes rarely. I've just lived with it for the last month.
Any ideas of where I should start?

I am surprised no one responded. I guess that no one has seen this problem? Based on what you described, it must has something to do with defective touch-screen. I will just bring it to the dealers when it is on those "happens frequently" days.

Might be a shot in the dark, but try a full reboot by killing ALL the power to the NAV unit. Either by pulling all the fuses or disconnecting your car battery for an hour. You'll have to reprogram your favorites, etc. but it may be worth a try.

Sorry you are out of the warranty period. My '06 got "lost" a lot and I finally had to take it to my dealer. They changed some software or somethin' like that. It was fixed then, finally. It had nothing to do with the disc or the antenna. Maybe the "re-boot" will work. My guess is that it won't but we can hope.

For your '06, I think that was an easy fix. They replaced the NAV DVD with an updated DVD and it fixed the problem as I remember a TSB on that. Now maybe Patrick323 '07 has the DVD with the faulty firmware. Might check with Lexus after getting version number off screen. The fix would be relatively cheap then by buying the latest NAV DVD. I think he is Gen 5. Goes for about $175 after club discount from Sewell.

The car is in the shop now after a bad bump that called for two new wheels/tires, new gas tank, midpipes ($1700 oem....F that, I have invidia midpipes for $310 on the way and the insurance owes me 1400) and bumper. I have to wait to investigate resets, etc. etc. when I get my car back.
