raced with 08 evo on I-95 and my is350
08 evo-higher boost psi, exhaust, intake, header, rims, lowered.....smokes came out from his exhaust...he tried so hard to gain distance from me but...haha he couldnt.
started at 60mph upto 110mph...
I stayed with him. It was easy...I was able to keep my bumper on his tail

The 370Z comparison isn't making much sense...the IS350 and the Z are two totally different cars. They aren't meant to compete.
Personally, I just need to be satisfied with the acceleration when I press the pedal. I don't sit around fretting about who has a car that's faster, because it really doesn't matter.

370z is designed first and foremost to be a sports car.

ROFL... i found something is350king posted up in youtube, hope this answers the 'how fast' question:
IS350King:
IS350 also beats C6 Z06 Corvette as well as ZR-1. It's the drivers race. The only cars that can beat the IS350 are Bugatti Veyron 16-4, Koenigsegg CCX-R (using bio-fuel, over 1100 hp), some special edition Viper and other muscle cars with 1000 ft-lb of torque and 1000+ hp. You see, this is why it is so easy for IS350 to beat 335i. it's like NOTHING... piece of strawberry cup cake.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.. I will race you any day, and anytime!
I pulled a half car on my friend who had a 03 M3 SMG with full exhaust. We went from about 30-80. And that was when I only had exhaust.
I would love to see this win you claim WITH EASE..
With that being said, I would venture to say that from 100 roll, you would probably win. But the old M3 just doesn't have the torque to hang at lower speeds.
On a serious note though, I'm calling BS.

If you know anything about E46 M3s, you also know that even with a full exhaust there isn't much, if any, HP to be gained unless it has also had a tune. However, I am sure the same could be said for the IS and your exhaust system.
I do agree though that I doubt an E46 would easily walk an IS, however, it should be pretty consistently faster, again, assuming the driver is decent.

370z is definitely faster. Relatively new car, and stock 1/4 (dragtimes) are already 13.1xx @ 106 (fastest ones). But, it's important to remember that chances are these aren't quite optimal times yet because the car hasn't been out for that long.
Yeah they go up to mid 13s, so theoretically if a 370z had a 13.5xx run and an IS had a 13.3xx run then the IS "wins", but that's silly to me and meaningless.
One should compare the optimal times for two cars to determine which is faster. That's why street racing seems so silly to me. If someone has a ****ty launch (can't get traction, say) does the other guy really "win"? I guess it depends on how you define winning, but "car that's ahead at the end of it all" is a bad way of determining it on the street, but that's probably all people care about.
you also can't control if someone gets a "jump" on the other during a street race, and those split seconds matter a lot.

The ONLY way to determine which is quicker is to line-up. Just like a boxing match, all the BS stops at the line (Sound of the bell).
Can't wait to line up against a 370Z!

The car can only go as fast as the traffic. And traffic in Northern VA goes about 30mph. I love the car but if I can't drive fast, there is no point to keeping that car. My IS350 is fast enough.

An IS350 can only beat a poorly driven 335i such as in that video. When driven by the same driver, on the same track, on the same day, we can see that the Lexus can't keep up with the BMW as seen here with Edmunds head to head test http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do.../pageId=124138
Here.. bone stock IS350 running 13.2 seconds.

quickest stock 335 running 13.2 also..
