Default Installing the rear GFX piece.

Hey CL, I will be installing my full GFX kit tonight. I am wondering a few things. Should I take off the rear bumper and drill the holes or just use double sided tape? Also are there any other places on any of the kit that I should add extra tape. Im very confident with the front and sides, its just the back im worried about. Thanks in adv.

Do it right the first time and take off bumper to drill the holes. If you just tape the lip to the bumper, its not going to sit right since you have to cut the exhaust openings to fit the rear lip. You don't need to add anymore double sided tape.

I did a search and found a thread about installing the gfx rear with the drilling or cutting. Hope it helps out.

I just used 3m double sided tape. i figured if it could hold a STI spoiler on my carbon fiber trunk at 140 it would work on the IS lip.

Did you remove the brackets and clips on the inside of the GFX lip?

I installed mine with just the double side tape it came with, added some extra on the corners, and ripped off the brackets. Its been on for about a year now and nothing but good things.

I agree with coconut! Drill !!! do it right. make sure that sucker stays on. I am sure the 3m tape is strong enough to hold it, but then again its tape.

If u get it done at the dealership, they drill too, do it to it ! GL with everything.

I removed my bumper and cut it when I installed mine. It's a little nerve wracking knowing that if you mess up, your bumper is toast, so make sure to measure twice and cut once. Once you remove the bumper, you'll notice that there are marks on the back of the bumper, so you really can't drill into the wrong spot. Good luck with your install.
