I should disclose I was driving very conservatively on purpose with mileage in mind. I love the challenge!

I just did 32.5 on a road trip from NYC to Virginia Beach. Was kind of surprised - didn't think I could get that good mileage. Avg speed at about 80 - top spead 105 (nice stretch on the Chesepeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel).

Of course - come home to NYC and cant top 21 mpg.

Jealous. I live in OC and even though most of my driving is freeway/73 toll road my gas mileage at best is 22. is it because i enjoy the air conditioning and rather be comfortable than driving with the windows down?

73 toll road is hilly as all get out, mileage is crap on there.

I drive 90-ish miles a day for work, 90% highway, my tank avg according to the computer is usually 30-32. It starts out at 33-35 when the tank is full and steadily drops, no idea why.

What gas are you using? I drive about 20 miles roundtrip to work, my gas mileage has never reached 30 mpg.

Almost exclusively Shell 91 - the caveat is that this is by the trip computer, the method the OP used to calculate MPG. For real world figures (manually calculated), bump it down 2 mpg or so.

I've been using Shell 91 exclusively since I got the car in June. I just considered switching to Chevron. I guess I'll just stick with Shell and hope for the best.

Actually windows down will cut your gas mileage due to the drag.

Surprisingly, not as much as running the A/C will... also depends on how fast you're going.

Bringing back an old thread, but had to share...

I got 36.7mpg on a ~200 mile trip from San Antonio to Houston over the weekend ! I average 33-34mpg highway tho, and probably 20mpg city with terrible Houston traffic haha.

90 MPH and 28 MPG is AMAZING for the is350.

I'm able to get 30+ but only doing between 40-50 MPH
