Comparative shopping is fine with legitimate offers, but let's not try to cheat the system by falsifying information. It makes you look like a creep. Sheesh.

I would never give business to any dealer that even once tried to jerk me around outside of the "acceptable warfare" tactics of not offering their best offer until some pain of back and forth. I would not put up with any lying or baiting/switching. In the end, the only measure of reward for someone that resorts to that tactic is the sale, not the customer satisfaction a few months later, so don't give them the satisfaction of making the sale and laughing with his colleagues at you as you're in finance signing papers.

I agree with you. Which is why I will sign elsewhere if he can't offer what I want. I've been more than patient.

Anyway... if I stick with the current deal, the car should be coming in some time in December...

Any good financing rates around that time for 2010 models?

As someone mentioned, you should know his invoice price. None of what you are working with matters if you don't know how much he is making on the car.
Find out his invoice and shoot for it or a little above it. Since the 2010's are still fresh, the discounts aren't as good as on the blow-out 2009's. Or if you wait until the end of the year, deals will be even more aggressive.

I see that you're from CA.

In NY, we don't have as many. There isn't as much wiggle room or bargaining power..

No law says you have to buy locally, and I know a few folks who didn't because it saved them a couple grand to go out of state.

Wish I had the time. Otherwise I wouldn't mind doing that.

Hi acefalcon, I'm actually looking at getting my first Lexus and am looking at the IS250. What is the specs and details on that 2010 deal that you got for your friend? I'm looking at a "base" model 2010 so I want to see what where to begin. Where was this? I'm in San Diego, CA.
