Default Hole in my wheel well? WTF

So I come home one day from work and park my car in the driveway. Stepped out and noticed a hole in my rear driver side wheel well. I have no idea how this thing got there, considering my car isn't even lowered... yet. I didn't see anything rubbing on it and quite baffled as to how this was created.

anyone have an idea? Is this a common problem?

*Doh just realized the pictures are sideways, but you get the point*

I figured... but my car is not lowered. So doesnt make sense. unless some animal decided to make a home there or something.

What size wheels/tires do you have? Have you ever carried any heavy loads in the trubk or rear seat?

Even if the car was lowered, it wouldn't be rubbing on that spot. Like the OP said, the picture is sideways. That wear isn't on the top of the wheel wheel, it's towards the front of the car. I think you might have something living in there. Maybe you should take the liner off and see what you got in there....

Look at the picture again. Its not on the top. Its rubbing on the rear on the fender liner, exactly where my wheel is rubbing because it is wider than stock...

You can even see evidence of rubbing on the edge of the tire....
