Default PS2 tire blowout on new Volks

On October 8th I had my new wheels, Volk VRG10s, put on my car. Later that day my PS2, right rear tire blew out. I had gone about 20 miles when it happened. I didn't have road hazard but Discount Tire in East El Paso took care of it and gave me a new tire. $371 out the door but I didn't pay a penny. I thought they would fight it but no such response when I came back in the next morning. I didn't even buy my tires from them and they still took care of me. Luck for me my rim didn't get damaged. Here are the pictures.

DAMN!!

Was there any damage on the rim itself? Glad to see you got a new tire, it would've sucked if they charged you for a new wheel.

Good job man and good service!
I wish I was that lucky when my tire blew out, had to replace front driver side rim.

only 20 miles on the tires!? road hazard shouldnt be any worry at all. the way that tire tore apart, that is the companys fault not yours or the tire shops.

^ I'm curious as well, did you ever figure out what happened to your tire?

I guess you're counting your blessings that there was no damage to the rim. Sweet looking rims by the way.

Road Hazard is the worry since that is usually what causes this 95% of the time. Any tire will come apart when it doesn't have enough air to support the weight on it. Discount Tire or Michelin gave him a Public Relations Adjustment

Over-inflated, perhaps?

I don't think it's common. I found one like this on a BMW site the night that it happened because I was trying to prepare my argument. My TPMS was not on but that could have been due to the fact that I had the OEM wheels inside the car. I think they may have been overinflated and I hit some pothole on the surface road. The tire went on the highway when I was going about 75 mph.

I still think Michelin's are the best tires out of all the brands I have owned in my life. They are pricey but they make some good tires IMHO.
