Default Rear-ended in new '09 IS250 - $6300 In Damages

Got rear-ended on the highway in heavy traffic. Everyone came to a sudden stop...except the young lady behind me. Her '05 Focus is totaled. Body shop estimates roughly two weeks plus for repairs.

State Farm really pulled through and made the experience as pleasant as possible (the other driver had State Farm too). Within 40 minutes they approved the claim and began booking my rental car from the on-site Enterprise rental.

State Farm's assessment is $6300 but that will change once the body shop starts taking the car apart.

I am stuck with with an '07 PT Cruiser until my car comes back

Oh and there were no injuries to anyone...just my IS.

You can always keep calling Entreprise to change out your car. They are always willing to either swap across or up (you pay)...

You seem to be taking it pretty well. I'd be totally livid if this happened to my 09. Your car will unfortunately never be the same again.

You know I always assumed I would be furious in this situation, assumed I would roll out of the car red faced and ready to fight.

However when it happened and I saw that the other driver was truly upset and genuinely sorry for her mistake as well as being traumatized from having her air bags deploy in her face it made me realize that accidents happen and it wasn't worth losing my temper and ruining my day over.

I am upset that a 3 month old car got banged up but in the end no injuries were caused and it won't cost me a dime. And I will make sure the car is as close to perfect as it can be when I pick it up.

The good thing is you're ok. You might want to have yourself checked out just in case. Cars are replaceable. Keeping your temper under control is the right thing to do. Accidents do happen and your insurance will take care of the rest.

That sucks man.. I hate to see anyone in an accident. Glad nobody got hurt though, looks like the IS will live to cruise another day, very shortly! Looks like your car took it pretty well. I have been a bit nervous about saftey in my IS since I picked it up a couple weeks ago. It's a big difference to me then the "Feeling safe cause I'm driving a Tank" feeling I used to have in my 4Runner. Still getting used to the IS.

Good luck with the repairs!!

Couldn't you get anything better than a PT Crusier?

Glad you didn't suffer any injuries. Sad to hear that the car is going to be in the shop for so long. Hopefully the shop with get your car close to normal and back in running in no time.

IS-F rear sounds like a great idea.

Sucks! Looks like it took it pretty well. And like you said, at least no one got hurt.
I myself had a mishap the other day... my first with the IS. Will make a new post soon.
