Dash mount escort passport 9500ix
So I am planning on getting the Escort passport 950IX. I'm probaly going to buy one online, and I plan on getting it dash mounted at Best Buy. Anybody have success with this? They said they only charge $40. The dealership will charge over $200. How does the hardwireing work? Do I need to purchase a kit? Thanks for your help, happy halloween

dude, do it yourself and itll cost you 30bucks for the adapter to hide the wire behind your dash, and th reason itll even cost you 30 bucks cause youd be buying the adapater at best buy. unless you can get it off ebay too. if you want id take pictures of mine. and show you how to do it

you ground one end and shove the other end into a fuse, preferably to one that shuts off when the car does, like i plugged mine into my cigarette lighter.

This thread will walk you through the hard wiring for radar detectors on the 2IS. BTW, you can find it in the 2IS FAQ/DIY thread stickied at the top of the 2IS forum, along tons of other great information.

you can pick up power from the cigarette lighter or the fuse box.

Why do you want to dashmount?? I hardwired mine (same unit) at the top of my windshield under the visor. Does not stick out like a sore thumb, does not get in your line of sight, gives you better range of detection, much easier to reach up and hit the mute button. I can not think of one advantage to the dashmount hardwire route. If you don't know what your doing, $20 bucks at a car audio shop is a smart move.
