I only have 96,000 miles on my 2006 IS350, but it is 14 years old. Bought new, always in garage, and has been pretty reliable. Had the water pump go out 3 or 4 years ago, and a shock absorber started leaking in the left front about the same time, spark plugs needed to be replaced two years ago when a misfire started. Have had all the recalls done including airbag replacement and valve springs. But it really runs and drives smoothly. I still think it is a great looking car even after nearly 15 years, paint work is still fine (Tungsten Pearl). Could never replace it with a newer vehicle at its current value so I just keep it in the garage and take it out a couple of times per week. I do worry about the transmission fluid and the difficulty in getting a complete fluid replacement due to its design.
Great thread folks, glad to see these cars logging some high miles. I'm now considering an IS250/350 RWD as my daily. I will be combing through the threads to see the common issues, recalls etc....
I got 150k on my Is 250 only real issue was that I had to replace a catalytic converter due to a leak but other than that just maintenance like spark plugs and tires. Hopefully it stays that way 😂
2007 Lexus IS350 with 245,000 miles! runs great no issues other than burns a little bit of oil, Has V-Land Head and Taillights, Megan Racing Sway Bar, BC Racing Coil Overs, Vertani Rotary Forged Wheels, 5% Tint all around More Cosmetic mods to come, I Would like to do full exhaust and tune but I believe she has to many miles for that.

2006 IS350 228,000 miles!! Runs great very reliable daily driver, still looks like a nice modern design, but has some age/wear n tear issues: burns some oil, door locks sometimes fritz, installed used trans 10 months ago, used cats 2 months ago, front suspension creaking noises, engine mounts worn, but it gets me around Im gonna drive it till the end!!!!
2008 IS350 with 174k miles, daily driven and mostly cruising except the occasional on ramp WOT and once in a while canyon runs, open corners/turns are driven hard when given a chance. Alternator replaced around 80k, radiator died at 160k miles after a 4hr canyon run in 100+ heat (kind of my fault for not cooling down), no oil burning, airbag light on (pass side apparently, not sure how to fix, been told different things...), diff bushing slightly torn, but other than that, nothing really that affects reliability and still fun to drive.
2008 IS350 RWD
123k miles
Confirmed with the shop that the transmission went out today:
No power when reversing
5th gear doesn't go into 6th on cold days..
You can hear a slight crack (metal on metal noise) from 3rd to 4th gear
Trans will make a clunk noise when placed into reverse
Inspection indicated:
Burnt and dark transmission fluid oil
Missing one bolt on the tranny oil pan
Fluid was leaking for awhile
Replaced the trans fluid (2qt), gasket and filter and the problem DID NOT go away
Don't let this happen to you. I'm now searching up quotes for a rebuilt tranny, not happy and not ever buying a Lexus again. The Tesla Model 3 will be my next car 100%.

Were you the original owner and were any of the required mileage inspections ever done?
As someone familiar with Tesla quality, a 123k mile Lexus if maintained properly (including that epic 100k bolt retightening) should be better quality than a new Tesla. If you want to compare a 123k mile Lexus to a 123k mile Tesla, that is not even a comparison.
As for the fear mongering "don't let this happen to you", transmission failure is not a common problem on these cars so it hasn't happened to most people. What are you suggesting people do, sell their Lexus's and buy a Tesla Model 3?

The car had to be severely ragged to blow transmission at that milage. Someone had to try to change the fluid prior to lose a bolt.
My guess using paddle shifters wrong. Holding gears too long in sport mode.

2nd owner here. Last transmission check was at 60k, all tune up intervals were followed according to the manual. VSC and P0894 code came up a few days ago so I had it looked at. I am aware that I am in the minority with this problem, just here to report my experience to balance out the circle jerk.

I think you would better off looking on sites like car-parts.com for a used low miles Tranny replacement. Rebuilds usually only have the exact parts replaced that were bad and a short warranty. Don't let a Trans shop rebuild it $$$$.
We found a Trans for a friend a few years ago for $600 off a very low miles wrecked parts car. Drained, replaced the filter, and it's still going strong 3+ years later.
