Default Clunk noise when I steer to the right???

Hey guys, I have an 09' IS250AWD. 5600mi. Stock wheels and suspension, except the F-sport rear sway.

I noticed the last few times I drove it, that when I go into a corner at say 40mph and steer to the right, when the weight shifts, I am hearing a clunk noise in the center to front driver's side of the car. It seems to be ok driving in the neighborhood, but when I get on a back road and get into some corners, is when I hear this noise. It doesnt happen when I steer to the left, only when I steer through a corner to the right. Weird huh? Any thoughts?

Any help is appreciated.

clunking while steering is a sign of a bad cv joint. it happened to my mom's es330 when it was brand new, the dealer replaced it for free

Thanks for the info! Yikes! Well I guess I'll be calling the dealer in the morning and they better be doing it for free. Only 800 miles on this car are mine, the rest were put on by one of the managers there as a demo. (Oh man, I hope this isn't the begining of bad things to come!)

if you're driving slowly, and turn the steering far right, does it clunk? if so, yeah, probably a cv joint. but let the dealer check it out. or if you have the time look at the joint yourself. if the rubber boot is ripped or broken, you need a new one.

it should be free if it's still under warranty.

No, It only happens at like 40mph going into a right turn or corner. Also happens when I make a right turn heading uphill. The noise sounds like when you put the car in park and take your foot off the brake, when it rolls forward a little and clunks. The noise is defintitely coming from the left side of the center console, Near the shifter, I guess in the transfer case area. You can feel the knock with your leg resting against the console when it happens. Of course it doesn't do it all the time! I wonder if its just the transfer case mount is loose or something like that. It's going in to Lexus in the morning.

Well, I just got a call from the dealer. They did replicate the noise (Half the battle is won) They said they didnt find anything specific, but they removed and reinstalled my center console, Tightened up all the bolts under the car that they could, and drove it again, and now can not reproduce the clunk. Service said they would feel better if they knew exactly what caused it in the first place, but they claim its fixed now and at least I feel better that the problem was reproducible and is now on record before I do my wheels, tires and other suspension mods. I made it a point of calling on my way to work in the IS loaner, that it was NOT making that noise.. LOL

Well, if it's fixed I'm a happy boy. Fingers crossed that maybe it was just a bolt or two that weren't tightened up to spec. We'll see when I pick it up tonite. I hope I'm done visiting the dealer for a while!
