GFM = Girl Friend Material
I like my TP color, it does look blend in sunny days but it looks incredible at night. Easy to keep it clean too.

Why nobody is buying Truffle Mica or Amber Pearl.

Most people will either admire or be indifferent towards the pearl effect, before attributing a gender to it. Any insecurity stemming from driving a GFM colored car is silly, as OEM pearl paint jobs have existed on numerous cars before and after the IS. Get what you like and enjoy it- spare yourself the possible remorse later on.

As for color-matching issues, I'd say its a valid question/concern. Some GFM cars definitely have more blue, while others have a more yellowish hue, for example. In the same vein, I've seen poor color-matching on many common colors, too, so while some colors are safer bets, it really is a matter of who does the work. I'd be interested in the experiences, too.

But, then I look at TP and it's a great color to have, but doesn't have that pizzaz that GFM has that makes you really excited about a car

Wanted to get everyone's thoughts.
It's gonna be your car--you need to get what you like.

I hate GFM; but others love it. I have TP--it was my 3rd choice. Do I LOVE it? No--it's silver, and pretty vanilla. But I won't get tired of it.

white is one of the hardest colors to match properly, not to mention the 3 stage pearl that is in the gfm paint.
Good feedback.

For comparison purposes only, my Lexus IS350 (smoky granite mica color) hood was repainted by Lexus body shop (the dealership doesn't have it's own body shop, but the shop they use is Lexus-certified) and the color match is perfect under all lighting.

TP FTW. Look best with chrome wheels/trim. Best color of ANY Lexus. But then again I dont have the "Hey everyone, look at me! I drive a Lexus" attitude. Its defenitly not the most stand out color. I'd call it the cleanest color.

When I bought my C i wanted MRM which was sold. GFM was next on my list because of the unique-ness, but that was not a color to choose from. I ended up with TP.

I must say like the rest have said, it does HIDE the dirt well. I love my car and the color but if i had the option i would go GFM. Good Luck with your decision.

Default Gfm!

I had an 07 GFM which was in a bad accident, the Lexus bodyshop matched the paint on mine pretty well. I now have an 09 GFM so they do still make it. I can't tell you how many times I have gotten compliments on the color and mostly from men! People are just mesmerized by the color, and another plus is that there are fewer of them on the road than TP (at least where I live) I don't think I will ever tire of this color so I hope it carries over to the 3IS.

As a Tungsten Pearl owner i will say, i dont regret the color choice. Its a nice color! Yes it might be boring because well its silver... But i believe the car's color is unique because of Lexus's awesome paint(No orange peel) So the paint is ultra smooth. In the sunlight it can look white and in the shade its a nice clean looking silver color. My first color choice when i purchased my car was Starfire Pearl, then SGM, then TP. If i were to purchase the same car i would choose Truffle Mica in a heart beat.

IMO, i dont like GFM that much because in direct sunlight the paint looks kind of dark and very pearly.

With that said, I dont ever plan on buying a light colored car anymore, because paint matching is a PITA and im extremely **** about the fit and finish of my car. I want/seek perfection and its nearly impossible to get a OEM finish when your bumper is resprayed(even when its blending ) Yeah, they shoot another layer of clear coat and it will be slightly off compared to other panels.

I don't think it's too feminine. Look at all the modded GFMs, they're all male drivers. The only bad news is that Lexus discontinued GFM in '08. So, you might have to go with TP. That's another great reason to get GFM, it's now a rare color on the road.
GFM has been available for all 2IS model years. Mine is an '08.
