Default How to remove silicone

Hey CL!
When I took my car to a bodyshop to remove my INGS+1 Replica kit, I found out that the other bodyshop that had installed the kit had used silicone on the front and rear lips. They said they couldn't get rid of it and I was forced to leave with the silicone still on my car; makes it look like crap :\ Anyways, I was wondering if you guys know how to take off the silicone without damaging the paint. I heard heat and plastic tools and a lot of time can get rid of it but are there any better/faster alternatives? Any input is appreciated. Thanks. Also if you know places that could do this for cheap or if any of you in the socal area can do it if I buy you pizza and beer that'd be great, too. :P Thanks!

Try to heat it with a hairdryer and see what you can pull off. The more you get off manually without chemicals, the easier time you'll have with what's left. Then apply an adhesive remover that's paint safe, OR try WD-40 (really!). Spray, let it sit for a few minutes, and wipe with a microfiber towel. You might have to repeat this many times.

If the stuff is really stubborn, you might have to use a combination of heat, chemicals, and plastic razor blades. After you're done, don't forget to seal/wax the area you were working on. Don't get too aggressive with anything, or you'll damage the paint.

Good luck!

By the way, the shop could have removed the stuff if they had wanted to...they're just lazy.
