Default Ah, the Stealers (I mean Dealers)...

so I bought my car about a month ago with 20k on it and went in to ask about the front brakes... Nope, brake dust is not an issue or warranty problem.

so I asked the cost to replace the front brake pads.. He did not even have to check: $330. I just laughed and walked out.

Now bring it back with a copy of the TSIB and tell him yes, it is a warranty problem so fix it.

same thing happened to me. I even brought the TSIB with me and the service adviser looked at me like I had 2 heads. He asked where I got this from and then told me that this is not for the general public. I told him - well, I'm tired of the break dust - fix it. Pick my car up later that day and nothing done. On the service report it shows that it is normal for the break dust to appear. m..f..ers! I'm going to a different stealership tomorrow for an oil change and will ask them about the brake dust issue. fyi - i have a 2006 that is still under warranty.

It is a definite issue and a reputable dealer will make the exchange at no cost. If not, contact Lexus. My dealer in Lubbock fixed the problem quickly and efficiently after providing me with a loaner. And my brake dust went away.

Which lexus dealership did you go to? I went to Lexus of Fife and got the TSIB done without any questions asked. Just show them the TSIB and you should be good. I've always had really good service from them.

just playing the part of the devil's advocate, but maybe they really didn't know. not all service advisors have the same knowledge - even though many of us (and myself at one point in time) assume them to have it.
