Hey sorry for the noob question, but I couldn't find any answers looking through the forums. Will the 2006-2008 TPMS work with my 2009 IS250? Thanks in advance
There are actually only two types of Lexus TPMS for this car - those for build dates of pre-April 2006 and those for post-April 2006 builds. I successfully had the post-April 2006 sensors programmed into my pre-April 2006 IS, and mikes rx posted above, the same is true in the opposite case - so pre- or post April 2006, it doesn't matter. They'll work.
So for instance, I get 2006 wheels with TPMS in them. Do I have to do any special programing to have the computer read the TPMS?
all tpms sensors will require programming into the car via Toyota/Lexus hardware....unless the aftermarket (ie-tire dealers) have caught on and is able to program them with special equipment.
you can sometimes get them programmed for free through your dealership. they use a computer called a techstream to enter the codes that are on each tpms

aw damn lol so i probably have to get it programed to my car then huh. Would it require taking off the tires or can they just do it via obd2/something else? I doubt they would do it for free if they have to dismount/mount tires lol.

Apparently the technology is there to be able to read the codes off the sensors using a special handheld scanner----thus not requiring dismounting the tires. I think what they do is lower the air pressure in the tires so that the scanner can show the change and the sensor causing the change.
But, I don't know if that's only on the post-4/06 sensors or not.
