You may want to wait a few weeks on that enclosure. I'm lending my car to my friends that own Audio Integrations to build a mold for their next "perfect fit" enclosure. They build really nice enclosures! You can check out their work at audiointegrations.net. The owners are some of the most talented installers/fabricators I've ever seen! Check out their site and I think you'll agree.

w7 with a 1000v2 amp was gonna be my setup but its jus wayy too obnoxious for my lil IS..gonna run a 12" w6v2 wit 500v2 amp..prob. within next 3 weeks gonna treat myself to another modd for the holidayss. wut exactly has to be done work wise for the sub/amp and a capacitor to work while the stock speakers stay on the stock amp? or am i supposed to get another amp for the stock speakers?..help is appreciated! is it easy for them to bypass the stock amp for the siub?

run your stock speaker and amp, and tune the sub to where it is not completely over powering, how much bass you have is all personal preference. i like alot so i would tune it to where there is more than usual.

for a competition sub like a 12w7, in most cases, i would say sealed, BUT for the w7, i would go with a ported to allow more air into the enclosure, as w7's are known to blow mainly in sealed enclosures due to inadequacy with the enclosure itself. the w7 has so much SQ, that putting it into a sealed enclosure wouldn't make a difference in terms of quality, you'd want more SPL. In short, go with a ported enclosure.

How very OCD of you. What do you set the bass level to on your stock HU? Can you hear the stock sub getting in the way (i.e. rattling, throwing the bass quality off, etc.)? How do you control the sub's bass level?

id build a slot ported box exactly how JL says to in the above post. i had 2 12w6v2s and 2 500/1 in a vented box and it was amazing. hit soooo had and sound quality was amazing. this was in my old RRS. no system in my is yet
