So keep calling dealers until you either:

Find one with a 350 without nav
or
Find one who's willing to exchange one of his on-lot cars with a further-away dealer who has one.

And especially in CA you've got like eleventy-pepsi dealers in the state, even if you might have to travel a few hours to one willing to help you out.

There's 14 Lexus dealers within 50 miles of Santa Monica.

Another 3 between 50-62 miles.

2 more about 90 miles away.

Any (decent) dealer ought be able to search the nationwide inventory system for a non-nav 350...so even if there's none in CA he ought be able to find you one SOMEPLACE.

If you're dead set on getting the 250, then get the 250.

Fact of the matter is, the VAST VAST majority of 2IS's out there are 250s. IS 350s are actually rather rare, IS-Fs even more so (obviously).

Me personally, I'm a young 20s guy (21) and so the power in the IS 350 is exhilarating and thrilling for me. I've had the car for almost 3/4 of a year now and accelerating hard every now and then still puts a nice big *** grin on my face, but that's just me.

Plenty of people are happy with the 250, if that's your budget then go for it.

Someone else suggested that you test drive the 350 first before you test drive the 250, i actually suggest you DO NOT do that.

If it's a budget and time issue, then it seems like you have no other choice. Obviously try and find a 350 without nav, but if you can't get one before december and have to end up with a 250, definitely don't test drive the 350 or you'll spend the rest of your time with the car thinking about how much slower the IS250 is rather than thinking about how great the IS250 is as a whole package.

If it's any consolation I've driven an IS 250 before as a loaner, and 99% of the time I drive it just like I drive my 350.

Honestly I can safely say I'd have actually been happy with a 250 but NOT after driving the 350. Because I drive (and own) the 350, I would not like it if I had to downgrade. This is why I suggest you don't test drive the IS 350 if you don't have the means to purchase one at the moment (i.e. if you can't find an IS 350 without nav within your budget)

If you are going to be stuck in traffic or hitting traffic light after traffic light, then the 250 is for you. If you live by empty long straights or open twisty roads with minimal traffic, you might want to consider the 350. They're both great cars and if I had to pick the 250, I would have gone with the manual tranny IS as I am a stick shift enthusiast/fanatic. What is the maximum you want to spend before tax/title/license? My non nav is350 costed me 36k plus TTL. The options I have are heated /cooled seats. HID lights and 18 inch wheels and tires.

Almost forgot to mention that if you are single or usually drive with one passenger, the power is fine. it's when you have a family and have 4 or 5 people in the car, then the car becomes really sluggish, hence the reason why I chose the 350.

Test drive both 250 & 350 if you are going to keep the car for the next few years
