Better sound? New speakers w/ factory amp?
Hi
I have the non ML stereo. Has anyone gotten better sound by replacing the front speakers, but keeping the factory amp?
Does anyone know the specs on the factory amp, or front speakers?
THANK YOU

I dont think it will make a noticeable difference.
If you are looking for speaker specs, try Crutchfield's fitment guide.

just so you know, our spkrs are pioneer already, best way to improve sound would be to add a REAL sub box and remove the stock one (leaving the empty hole for a sound port).

first of all, the non-ml package speakers aren't that bad.. they ARE cone speakers, meaning they are not made of paper. the only issue with installing new speakers is that the way lexus wired the car, makes it really hard to get a good sounding sound system for cheap. on the factory amp, there is three sections, one for highs, one for mids, and one for lows. your 6.5" speakers only play low range frequencies, your midwoofer only plays midrange frequencies with SOME high, and your tweeter plays only high range frequencies.. MEANING, if you want to upgrade you sound system, you cannot merely purchase a 6.5" component set, install 3/4" tweeters in the tweeter housing, and replace the 6.5" speakers. When you install a Hi to Lo convertor (LOC), splicing into your factory amp's 6.5" speaker harness, you will only pick up signals from the low end frequency. This will be a problem if you plan on using the crossovers. Other than that, if you want to buy individual speakers(non component), depending on your budget, you will notice a difference in sound quality. The only problem I had was that most companies don't make a 3/4" tweeter with great SQ, and most midrange woofers are at least 3"+, whereas our factory ones are 2.5".
