One Headlight dimmer than other
Hello,
One of my headlights is dimmer than the other.
I'm assuming the bulb isn't out since it still shines but, then what is it?
Would I need to get a new ballast?
and if I get new bulbs for both headlights when I get the new ballast, would they both be the same brightness/color?
Thanks,
Z

is your light set up OEM or HID kit or halogen? Is the bulb changing color , or is it just slightly dimmer?
How do you know it's dim? Did you cover the other lamp with a t shirt and compare the two when they were on?
A dim bulb does not necessarily mean a bad ballast. It could just be a bulb on it's way out.

is it the passenger(right) one that's brighter and driver(left) that's dimmer?
if so it should be that way, so you don't blind oncoming cars in the opposite direction.
for JDM RHD cars, the driver side(right) is brighter than the passenger for the same reason.

Actually, I have not heard anything of that sort. The cutoff of the projector on the driver side is aimed slightly lower to reduce glare to oncoming traffic, but the bulbs run equally intense.
However, you do bring up a good question. The op may be thinking that the driver side is dimmer than the passenger side when sitting in the driver seat. The driver side light will overlap with the passenger side beam towards the right, and give the appearance that one is dimmer.

The light is noticeably dimmer. Its the OEM lights and its the driver's side that is dimmer than the passenger side.
It doesn't change lights, its just dimmer.
I can stand in front of it and tell that it is not nearly as bright, its pretty apparent visibly.
I haven't tried the t-shirt method but i will. So, should I try changing the bulbs first and if that doesn't work then look into replacing ballasts? anything else it could be?

Yeah give it a try
Park your car maybe 20 feet away from a wall and cover one lamp with a tshirt or towel. Then switch to other side
It could also be that your light bulb somehow became jarred loose out of it's clip, and may possibly be focusing on the projector incorrectly

I have the exact same problem with my 2007 IS 250, right head light is like yellow about 40% more dim then the bright White left light. I took this to Sears auto center and the guy told me its a ground problem and not a light replacement problem. He said replacing the light will just yield the same results.
Anyone have any updated solutions?
