No it's not bad, and the belts can take much colder weather than that. Manufacturers test these cars in arctic conditions.

The best way to warm a car is to drive it gently for the first 5-10 miles. And then not go over 4k until it reaches normal operating temperature. Most of the wear happens on cold start ups, so if you let a cold engine just sit there, it won't heat up the oil quickly enough and it only result in more wear and tear. The oil needs to be warm to get into all the passages inside the engine. Also, you're wasting gas by idling.
