Default 19s or 20s? Cant decide.

Looking to get some wheels soon but cant decide whether to get 19s or 20s.

As of now i choose to drop it on springs unless i find some coilovers for a great price but i think 20s will make it look like a 4x4 without a Slam.

I also want 19s because the ride will be smoother and look fine with a drop on springs.

With 19s what widths could i go with, im thinking 19x8.5 in the front and 19x10 in the rear. With those sizes, do you think i will have rubbing issues. I think i found the wheels just gotta order them and paint them

Thanks.

Dude, all depends on the offset. Low offset looks sick but rubbing will drive you nuts unless you fix the fender. If you go to the thread where is says crappy is250/is350 cell phone pics I have my car on 20s and 19s and believe me 19s feel so great is crazy. The car looks awesome on 20s but the ride quality sucks all depends if there is a lot of potholes because in NY specially manhattan there is a lot and ride quality is wack so I switched.

Thanks, i understand the offsets, im debating on 19s or 20s because of the ride quality and dont want the wheel to look to big OR too big.

I have 19's and so do most people on here, 19's look perfect for our car. They don't look too big or small and you can run more aggressive settings on 19's and ride way lower with a drop on 19's.

I would get 19x9 offset 34-36 and 19x10.5 in the 40's you might rub if your on springs and fat tires but if your on coils, you should be fine.

Thats what i was thinking. I might go with a 19x10 in the rear and put on a spacer. Im not trying to roll my fenders or heat them or touch them at all so lets hope.

Well if you want a 4inch lip, you're going to need to roll fenders or shave them. For a 3inch lip, it's pretty easy to get but imo doesn't look as good. If I could do it again, I would've shaved and rolled my fender for some aggressive rims...looks 10x better but everyone got their own preferences so I hope your not thinking of getting a 2inch lip in the front and a 4inch in the rear without some fender mods and aggressive offsets haha

Anyone care to explain that springs could rub instead of coils? Not because the fact that coils can be adjusted to a higher ride?

Hi, I'd suggest starting off by searching for other posts to get some idea as this question has been asked and discussed before.

Go to advanced search, put in keywords '19 or 20' and select the 2IS forum. Here are some of the results among others...

I'd go with 19s. What kind of rims are you planning on getting?

On coils, they usually come with a stiffer spring rate and you could also adjust the dampening to them which could make it stiffer or softer.

19's work best for a car that's meant to be driven on public roads.
