Default Non dealer maintanance prices?

Im looking into getting an IS 250 just wondering if the maintanance is alot more expensive then the average car? I always avoid going back to the dealer because its a rip off. I currently have a trusted mechanic in town that does all my maintanance on my VW. Are regular oil changes, brakes, ect. more expensive on a higher end car like this?

it's probably gonna be cheaper than your vw on account of better reliability. japanese parts are usually cheaper than euro. also you can usually buy parts from toyota dealerships.

yea im figuring they got to have good aftermarket parts like brake pads and roters. But my one friend who is leasing an IS told me he was told by lexus that the IS's have a special oil filter which only they carry. He takes his car to the dealership and pays $75 for an oil change, lol. I think they are BSing him a little bit.

lol, that's hilarious.

i pay $20 for my oil changes at ntb. that includes the filter. that's all the maintenance you need to do for a while. maintenance is not bad at all.

Your friend is an idiot.

That's ok though, it's the idiots who pay for the free pastries when you stop by the dealership

Oil filter element:
http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/par...l.asp?id=77315
$4.04

Front brake pads:
http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/par...l.asp?id=90160
$53.95

Anyway, the car requires very little routine service... even if you use non-synthetic oil and go exactly by the manual you'll need:

Every 5k miles:
oil change

Every 15k miles:
Check/change air/cabin filters (you can do yourself in about 5 minutes, get a lifetime engine filter, and cabin filter is like 15-20 bucks.

Every 30k miles:
change brake fluid (probably 100-150 bucks at dealer or local shop)

Every 60k miles:
Change spark plugs

Every 100k miles:
Change coolant.

Pads/rotors/etc is, whenever you need em. Some folks go through pads quickly here, some folks get 50k miles out of a set.

and that's about it.
