Are you guys slamming your hoods??
Hey guys,
wondering if you guys are pretty much slammin your hoods to close it. I have a 2010 and it seems like im pretty much slamming it down to lock it. i can't even just let it drop by itself....is this normal? seems kinda rough to slam it like that...
i dont like slammin hoods down...i used to have a teg and i would just rest it on the latch and press it down to lock...

Yea I don't like the idea either... I would neccesarly call it "slammin" though lol just a little encouragement.... when I first got mines I though somethin was screwd up cause I've never had a car that I couldn't just gently push close.... well u can put it down and then quickly press hard and it will latch but I get worried about puttin a fat dent so I don't

Gentler way
If you are like me and hesitate to treat such a light good roughly, you can hold down the latch you pull to open it while closing it. Wait until the lock is in place, slide your fingers out and push down gently. There you have it.

I can drop it from about a foot and it closes nicely.
Its made of ally so pushing it to close is not good.
Gas strut is good and smooth in operation and catch is clean and dry with a wipe of oil on the rubbing faces.

DIY - fix IT! How to adjust....
I looked through this whole thing and not one person opted to adjust the damn thing to close how they like it? Mine drops from 4" and is a solid nice latch. No issues.
When closed is the hood flush with fenders on both sides or is it above or below the fenders?
When closed and firm pressure is applied to the center section near the latch, does it press down any further at all?
If the hood is above the fender at all, open it and screw the rubber bump stops down and test it. There is one on each side. They screw up and down.
If the hood is level with the fenders, remove the covers and adjust the center latch up just a few mm. Test fit.
Adjust bump stops only to level fender and hood to achieve flush appearance. Adjust center latch such that hood latches easily but does NOT push down further once latched. A mm or 2 is fine but excess movement allows it to flutter at highway speed. That's it. Done. Tighten the bolts adjusted! DO NOT Over tighten them.
**DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK. I am not responsible for you working on your car. **
Make certain the safety latch hooks when done.
Make certain the main latch hooks and the hood can not be lifted by hand.
