So I went to go start my car Friday after work and I get in and it says "Key Not Detected". I keep trying but nothing. I have the key in my hand. I thought it was odd so I go outside and try to lock and unlock the car but no response.
So I had to go home and get my spare key fob which I've never once used and now I'm using that.
Has anyone else's key fob died so soon? My Infiniti key fob, I used for 3 years and it was fine.
Will Lexus Warranty cover it?
*Note, when my car is parked at home, I leave the key fob in the cup holder. Its parked in my home garage.

customers come in all day long with this same isue, all i can tell them is that the key itself is more active then previous keys, almost any electronic devise will wake it up. So by leaving ur key in the car when its at home its in costant comunication with the car.

Go on the Bay and buy a pack of 10 or so for about six bucks. Change them every 18 months or so, and keep a spare in the ash tray. Freeze the rest. It takes all of five minutes to change the battery, no need to go to the dealer. It's no big deal.

Heh... I'm approaching month 28 of ownership with my original fob battery and no issues. Only thing I do do is keep the fob and my cell phone in opposite pockets. I've got a spare handy for when the time comes, and of course at worst you can still open and start the car with a totally dead battery in it too.
For the guy asking how to change it, buncha thread on it, but basically it pops open like any other fob with a battery in it.

Both of my batteries died in my FOB keys within 3 years. I really feel like I got jewed now though... you're all talking about the battery being cheap... I looked all over the place to only find it in the bay, and it ended up costing $30 for 1 battery...
