ballast or bad bulb

the 2is oem HID system is finicky, especially with bulbs.
case in point, while there are stories of aftermarket D4S bulbs lasting a good long while, there are also stories of oem D4S bulbs going out frequently.
a good way to find out whether it's your bulb or ballast is to swap the bulbs from side to side. if the same issues persist on the same side, it's possibly the ballast or even the system itself.
if you can duplicate the same issues on the other side after side-swapping the bulbs, then most likely it's the bulbs.
hope this helps.

^ don't you think credit should be given where credit is actually due?
rselby, if your 2is is still under factory warranty, take it in and have the authorized dealer replace them under warranty.
if not, check the classified section and other websites for oem replacements.

good call, I had the same issue. My drivers side would cut out almost immediately and it ended up being the bulb. I have seen the bulbs either last a really long time or a really short time like other members have said.
