Default Flashing Outdoor Temp

Occasionally, my display will begin flashing and then go back to normal. for instance tonight when I was stopped at a traffic light, the outside air temp starting to blink on and off. And then it suddenly went back to normal. Any thoughts?

I've seen the temp display flash when the outside temp is close to freezing (as a warning).

Yup, mine does that too when it's just atrociously cold out [which here in Texas is anything in the 30s]. Did it tonight actually for me when I was out doing my cruise.

It does it when it first drops down to 37 deg as a warning that it is near freezing. I'm told that the Germans like to couple this with a loud chime too--Lexus sticks with the subtle flash.

I did some research a while ago on this because it happened a few times to me. It only happens on the models with the Nav system. It flashes for ten seconds when it reaches 37 degrees as a warning for icing on the roads (as said in prior replies). A Lexus tech said that the temperature gauge isn't perfect so they give the warning at 37 degrees. As said before too, I believe it does say it somehwere in one of the manuals. Nothing to be concerned with.

Default Flashing outside temp

Hi Everybody,

I'm in the frozen tundra of Mpls MN and I first noticed it yesterday when I had parked for a bit outside then started her up. It was unusually warm for a late December day (approx 38F). I recall the temp being about 37 and flashing...then stopping. It makes sense that it's warning you of ice etc. The funny part is that when it's around 17F or basically sub freezing then it does't blink at all. Maybe they figure if it's that cold out you should know ANY precipitation is gonna be frozen so you prob should just stay indoors!!!
