I would think it would be more noticeable for lowered cars with bigger wheels as the vibrations and bumps feel much harder than stock. I'm going to install it later today and will be trying it out tomorrow.

I had considered doing this as well, but if others want an alternative to drilling the new dampener, you can do what I did and pick up some lead take from a local golf shop... I am going to add approx 2-3 oz of this tape and see if there is any difference.

My hope is that since the tape is so soft that it will almost act like an additional dampener to the vibrations that come through the wheel (I'm sure it wont be a dramatic effect, but hey..if you are doing this upgrade then you are not looking for dramatic changes in the first place)

the vibration dampening maybe... but the feel of the drive... it should still be felt... the vibrations of the car with softer compound tires.... and correct hubrings should already be less vibrations... well the lowered car factors in then... so yeah depends... i had it on before i was lowered and new wheels i still could notice the better feel of the steering wheel especially when turning

Just installed mine today

... thanks guys for the tip on torx wrench, I went and bought the torx bit/adapter for my wrench and it worked great. Couldn't figure out how to remove the airbag at first, but after looking at the pics in the first post it was easy (had to pop up the clips)

Havn't gotten the chance to drive the car yet, but im about to head down to santa clara (around a 30 min drive) so ill get a chance to feel the change. Ill do a super mini review on it when I get back...

so I'm back from my drive...

Review:

If you don't concentrate on it, its not that noticeable, but its there. Its less twitchy over uneven roads, and feels a little tighter.

Lexus should have put this in the car to begin with...

I was skeptical, thinking this was $24 down the toilet. However, this was actually a very good mod. This reduced the vibrations by at least 50%. The steering wheel was also tighter. I guess this wasn't just a placebo affect.

Here's an advice on removing the airbag. Pull the yellow pin up. Then you can pull the whole plug out.

I had mine installed with my new carbon fiber steering wheel. I was so excited about the wheel I forgot about the damper. Not a huge difference, but too cheap to not get it. At least I'll know that I have it!!!

i am thinking to mod the steering damper adding more weight to it... should i?
since i will be back home where i have a metal factory... drilling into the damper then add lead weights to it... precise amounts of it that is

Sounds interesting. Maybe try to zip tie/double sided tape some weights on and drive around first.

This is a must have for any IS! Why Lexus did not put this on the car from the factory kills me. I have F-Sport suspension and this was definitely the final touch. I did however break one of the Torx screws while putting it back in. Going to have to go to Lexus and get another tomorrow. Be careful not to torque them down too hard...even though they're tight to begin with.

Funny how when someone a long time ago found this and did the mod everyone was bashing on him for it being a pointless/dumb mod, now everyone has it! haha I wanted right from the start but was too lazy to order
