Okay, so I got my order in from Sewell.

I'm kinda confused on part #'s here... the one I just got is 45713-53020

Now if you go to the first post in this thread, he has two different steering dampers in the first picture.

The top one is: 45713-52020 (looks beefier than the one I got)

The bottom one: 45713-12080 (this looks like the one I just got, but it has a different part #)

Which damper did I get?? I'm kinda wishing I had got the top one that looks heavier, but oh well, time to go install this thing.

Sewell should only list one under the IS section (at least for 2009 IS250). It's a kit that comes with the bolts. I'm sure you ordered the right one if you bought it from Sewell.

You did recieve the heavier of the 2 , the other is very light I have held both to compare and even added lead shot to the one you have!

The one Sewell sells is the heavier one. I made it heavier by adding lead shot, some use wheel weight tape.

So they're all the same weight and people think they're different because they look different, therefore must be different weights?
In that case,

you should weigh them in grams. since 28 gram = 1 oz. maybe the bigger looking one is a few grams heavier, but that's just being picky.

If you are on coils there is a pretty big difference. Easier to drive everyday. Well worth it!

Question bout the install, is it absolutely necessary to disconect the airbag cables to complete?

...well, what's the worst that can happen if you don't ...an airbag deployment...with you in front of it!

There's a single...yes, just a single wire harness going to the air bag. It's a simple connector that is easy to remove. It should take you an additional 20-45 seconds to disconnect this harness.
