Default stagger wheels on AWD (i researched already)

Hey guys

So i got a 09 is awd.

after reading some of the threads i pulled up, people don't seem to have problems with their transmission running on crazy staggered wheels and tires.

has anyone had transmission issues yet with their IS AWD that they acutally had to get it fixed?

buddy is offering me a set of euro lines 19x8.5 +38 and 19x9.5 +42 at a good deal...he has a rwd, but i would love to know if it'll work for me or not and what size tires i should be running to have the same rolling diameter? (the wheels look really good in person, very very very very tempted....so im kinda looking for a firm answer from the pros on this forum)

im still kinda very skeptical about staggerness on the awd after all these reserach asking around, people tell me no and yet people are doing it without problems...

due to the fact replacement transmissions etc is expensive and could potentially be very annoying.

i'll be dropping my car with eibach prokit. as well if that helps.

thanks in advance.

i have a similar setup just different offsets.. for tires you would need to get..

Front: 235/35/19
Rear: 265/30/19

this would keep the rolling diameter withing 1%..

from what I heard its 30/70

you can search the forum for staggered AWD setup, plenty of info
but yes its possible without problems (so far no problems atleast)

yes i believe it is 30/70 just like the GS. i on the other hand dont recommend it. i know people have done it and had no problems but i dont want to run the risk of damaging anything because if you do, the dealer is not going to fix it because your running staggered wheels. i can only imagine the cost for the repair which is enough to keep me away from doing it.

a 275/30/19 is actually a better match, keeps the diameter identical

Why not just spend the money on a custom set of wheels. If I had a AWD, I would get 20x9 all around and have staggered offsets/lips. Run the same size tires all around. Your better off doing it properly the first time, rather then the second. I'm sure others have done this type of set up as well as staggered widths.

so 235/35/19 front and 275/30/19 rear would be even close rolling diameter? How do you calculate RD knowing wheel & tires tire size, and awd 30/70? any formula? sorry for idiotic questions.

Well im just tempting to buy this set cuz they looked so good and its like brand new conditon half price of brand new close to 3K for the set, i originally plan to buy a set of 18x8.5+35 all around with stagger lip for the stagger look same size tires all around. custom wheels are too much in cost...yeah im cheapppppppppp lol...

thanks alot for all your help & advices

yeah local owner in markham/scarborough, you guys might know him his on this forum as well...i think his JDM VIP or something not really sure.

yeah i check the size on the calculator for

235/35/19 OD: 25.47inch or 646.93 mm
265/30/19 OD: 25.25inch or 641.35 mm

that is suppose to be within 1%?

btw im dropping the car 1inch with eibach pro kit...would the front or back rub? anyone for experience on this?

i dont know about wasting all my money on that idea. when it just about the tires. you can run your set with the same size tire and not waste a hell of alot of money for custom wheel that nobody will buy. and i dont see the point of custom lip with same width cause your not going to rotate it anyways so i rather just run stagger. but yeah you can run 225-235/35/19 front and 235-255-265-275/30-19 rear. or if you scared just run 235-35 all around.

stick with a 235.35.19 front and 275.30.19 rear

Both the 275.30.19 and the 265.30.19 are within 1% of overall rolling diameter vs the 235.35.19 but the 275.30.19 is a much better match as it keeps you less than 0.01% difference

the 265.30.19 is closer to 0.9%

thanks all for the input! man i really appreciate this, i dunno **** about awd, i deal with rwd on my silvia mostly lol...

yeah i went to purchase the wheels from my friend... can't wait to put them on!

so if i ran 235/35/19 all around the rolling diameter would be 0%? because its 9.5inch in the back the side walls would be streched more and the height of the side wall would be lower, would that effect it?

i thinking of running 255/30/19 in the back? any inputs

cuz im thinking 275 would bulge out on the 9.5inch rim...i don't really wanna go that wide..
