I bought a brand new MDX and days later noticed oil drips on the floor. Turns out it was a cracked transmission case from the factory. They replaced the transmission when the car was literally about a week old. I sold it to a friend of mine a couple years later with about 50k on it and it now has about 125k - same transmission. I wouldn't worry too much. Besides, you have the rest of your CPO coverage plus the 6yr/70k powertrain warranty which should cover the tranny. If the carfax didn't show anything, it's likely something minor happened to the bumper. Lexus will repaint it right and you'll be ahead of the game. It's a great car. Enjoy!

i guess your short 2is ownership experience hasn't been up to par, eh?

seriously, though, sorry to hear that you're having such an abysmal ownership experience at the outset. however, i'm inclined to believe that these are merely isolated incidents that just happened to occur at this time.

as far as the dealership is concerned, while you can blame them for not doing a better job in their pre-sale inspection and certifying the vehicle, the fact that the dealership you purchsed your 2is from is taking care of these issues demonstrates a willingness for them to take care of you as a customer and to stand behind the car they sold to you. had they not, you certainly would have had a bone to pick with them, but that's a discussion for another day.

as far as the car itself, it may be just isolated incidents that just chanced to occur within such a narrow window of time. certainly unfortunate, but it happens. while i've read of 2is manual transmissions failing, there hasn't been any cases of the automatic transmission doing that - even under aggressive driving conditions. again, your situation may have been just an isolated incident.

hopefully your ownership experience will drastically improve, and welcome to the 2is owners' club.

I was actually going to buy an 06 350E for about same price but IS had lower miles and I liked the reliability from previous Lexus.
I was involved in an accident in my 07 IS, it had nearly the entire passenger side severely damaged, was in the shop for months, put on a frame machine and had damages over $11,000.00. The accident NEVER showed up on carfax, we traded it a year later, after that I searched the VIN online and found out that it was sold on Ebay as a carfax clean vehicle with no accidents. I would never trust carfax.

Damn that's the first time I've heard of so many problems all at once. No offense I think you're just unlucky. GL in the future.
