If I were you I would look into getting some Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D. They have a "V" speed rating good for 149mph. And they perform just fine for me on the autobahn. But my AWD only does 135mph. Make sure you get the ones with the "V" rating and not the "H" rating. Same tire, just different rating.

How old were the tires? I watched a 20/20 special about tires that are over 5-6 years old can be more prone to blowouts, apparently.

ThiS thread is stupid the moderators should close it down. This is a fake who would do 180kph on winter tires and say oh it was fun stopping the car? How is that fun when is dangerous not only to yourself but to other people. This is a waste of space and showing how people are bored with there time with nothing better to post on a good lexus forum. Seriously get a life. No one that really owns an. "IS" with there right mind would be doing 180kph knowing that there's black ice as it is. Therefore go do something with your time and don't bother posting non sense
