I don't think my 2010 IS250RWD vin (bought in april 2010) was included but this morning at a stop light my engine seemed to shake and studder. This is the first time I had this happen, I only have like 5000miles on it too. Do you think they would service it even though the vin is not included in the recall?

The service is suppose to include mid-2010 IS250's so you might be.

Anyway, it is good to make the dealer aware of any customer concerns just so that it is documented in case it needs to be referenced later.

I would pay attention and see if the car acts up again. Is so then you know it wasn't a one time thing and should bring it to the dealers attention. my 2 cents.

kinda fast but not too fast.

recall says production change effective JTHBF5C2#A5111618. mine is A5117...so I think I'm past the effective change date.

I suspect the downshift to 1st gear causing the problem when coming to a stop real fast. At least it does on mine.

Dido - the cars seem to load up and foul the plugs creating misfires. However, it seems that the cleaning has fixed this issue for my car.

I have to say that WOT definitely helps.

Truth is WOT is a very small patch for an issue it can't fix. Take it from me that I've autocross this car and also track it, no drag strip though. If both the top end cleaning and BG Induction work well together I believe that's the solution to finally rid the car of the carbon deposits. Like Gaugster mentioned doing both at a good scheduled interval would be best.

I know what I'm doing...I said it helps. I did not say it would solve the problem.

WOT is like coughing to clear your throat. It helps.
But is it the solution? IDK.

Well, went to Byron dragstrip yesterday and had some great runs. The density altitude (DA) was -711.

Best ET was 15.325 @ 89.0 MPH. That's my best time ever. Could be the fastest AWD on the planet. idk, lol......

Corrected to sea level it's 15.421 @ 88.461. My best corrected run prior to that was 15.761 @ 86.668 back in 2008.

There was no changes to the car, only more miles on the odometer and the engine cleaning of course.

Noticed that if the AC is not on, the RPM are very low with the foot on the brake(brake lights on), like 550-600 and engine is not quite smooth at that speed. So here is my theory:

All those times when we come to a stop and

1. the AC is not engaged due to the AC cycle
2. the 1st gear is engaged abruptly at the moment the speed is almost zero

You will experience
- Low idle with vehicle shaking as if it was about to stall

because of the excessive loads (brake lights on + 1st gear engagement action) coming into the equation all at the same time and not enough rpm to support the electrical load. Additionally, if the headlights happen to switch on at this time, the RPM flutters.

thoughts?

i only had my car drop down to below 500rpm once since i got the car, but it does have a hard time starting from a cold start. you think that is from the carbon build up? because im going to bring in my car for service soon(42k miles) and need to know if i should ask to do this
