I took my car in last week for an oil change and for them to check on the carbon build-up issue. I haven't picked up my car yet, but they sent a service order to my email.
It looks like they want to replace a few parts

I don't know what new piston rings will do to keep the valves clean... It is hard to imagine that essentially a full teardown and rebuild of the engine is the fix for all of the IS250's out there with these symptoms. What a nightmare -- and though the dealerships to seem to have good service shops, it's a complicated job and I don't know how I would feel about my engine being overhauled.

Got the TSIB number for you guys
L-SB-0068-11
Coming from Tim (services manager at Sewell Ft Worth):
Sea foaming your engine, and / or installing a catch can between the PCV and the intake pipe will help as far as preventative maintenance goes.

What do you guys think about this "catch can" thread?

I think that "catch-can" thread is full of bad advice. The engine will continue to draw in oil vapor from the PCV as long as there is a + pressure differential between the crankcase and the point source for the PCV on the intake tract. The engine will create a venturi, drawing in vacuum from the intake pipe, and this will further increase the work done removing crankcase vapor from the block. The more ventilation you have in your block, the BETTER. If you plumb a catch can (with an integrated baffle system to cause the vapor to fall out of suspension) in between the engine and the vacuum source, it will collect the otherwise harmful vapor from entering your plenum and depositing / coaking on your valves and other engine parts.

The turbo creates a MASSIVE vacuum on the crankcase, and it actually increases horsepower, because the rings seat better, resulting in a more efficient power stroke due to the containment of the combustion.
The only thing I could do to better this setup, is to get a 2ndary catch can, and run it between the head and the intake manifold, with a check valve, so that under idle / cruise (off boost), the engine will see the benefit as well.

Don't know the tsb but just know that the piston rings are being replaced . My car is the ginnie pig at the dealer just dropped it off Saturday and they did not give me an estimated date on when to pick it up. They just said it would be over a week or two. I'll post up my sevice summary when I pick it up.

I was just about to call the dealer tomorrow and let em know my cars been having the shaky/rough idle again just after 20k miles. But if there's a better fix for it now im interested!
