Have you guys run into this, I have an 08IS350 and need to change the oil for the first time (bought used 10,000 Miles) but I cant get the oil filter housing off. I have broken 2 cheap *** "F" cap tools from autozone, should the housing be that tight? I would just go to the dealer but I have already bought 7 quarts of full synthetic oil. I think next step is buy the toyota filter tool but I dont know if it is any better, any ideas?

Check out this filter wrench TOY640, works perfect and is similar to the expensive Lexus one.

it may have been overtightened by whoever maintained your 2is previously.

i changed my own motor oil a few days ago, and the housing came off with a little bit of elbow grease.

try the filter wrench recommended by BounceNY, and if all else fails take your 2is to a shop w/ a lift and have them change the oil for you.

I had the same issue and just bought a Toyota one...works fine. sounds like someone also overtightened it.
