Road Noise
I have just purchased an Lexus IS-250, RWD with 18,000 miles on it and it seems to have excessive road noise transfered to the passengers compartment from the tires. If I am on a very smooth surface its not near as bad as a rough surface. Should I have this much noise? Any help and/or sugesstions would be appreciated.

Tires make the difference of night and day as far as noise. The quietest tire so far was the BFG g-Force Super Sport A/S. My next tire will be the Continental's ExtremeContact DWS.

Thanks for all the great responses. I have 18000 miles on Bridgestone Turanza ER33s, Front 225 40R 18s and Rear 255 40R 18s. They don't look to worn.

Make sure you check the insides treads of the tires (to make it easy just turn your wheel all the way one way to check the treads).

Whatever you do, DON'T get the Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S. They are noisier than than the stock Dunlops they replaced. The problem is that they are pretty quiet for the first 5k or so. From there, the noise ramps up pretty quickly. Mine are about 1/2 worn (16k) which means they're wearing very well. I kind of wish they'd wear out sooner. But, I'm too cheap to throw them away. Next time I may try the new Hankooks. I love them on my truck.

You may want to look at this tire. It has the highest overall rating for all-seasons and you get a free GPS with the purchase of 4.

I have about 10K miles on my Continental's ExtremeContact's and they are still quiet. I am very happy with them. My original tires were Bridgestone RE050 and they were very noisy.
