Need help with HID Output
okay in the process of retrofitting my headlight and i need to get new bulb, the bulb size of the new projectors are not the same as the 2G IS. i currently have 6000k and i like very much but i was thinking of getting 8000k for a little more color. what do you guys think? anyone who have photo of 6000k or 8000k output please post thanks.

quoting myself from a past thread:
unless you have some inferior 6000k bulbs that are not accurate as far as light and/or color output are concerned, then i recommend staying with what you have now.
of course, you can try 8000k for color, but temper your expectations as far as light output.
myth: the higher the "k", the brigher the bulb/HID kit.
fact: the higher the "k", the less useable light output.
fyi, the "k" is a measurement of color temperature in degrees kelvin that determines the hue (read: gradation/variety of a color) of the light source.

as you move along the "k" scale curve from left to right, you'll see that there is an increase in light output, peaking somewhere between 2000k and 2500k. personally, i don't know why manufacturers don't use that color temperature, but from an aesthetic point of view i'm glad they didn't... but i digress.
the stock 4300k for the oem D4S bulbs for the 2is is right on the border between white and yellow, but has more light output than most popular D4S bulb temperatures (6000k/8000k/10,000k). however, for aesthetic's sake, the 4300 still has a hint of yellow, so you'll have to go with a higher color temperature to get that white/blue-ish tint. and of the popular D4S bulb temperatures, 6000k has the most optimal mix of color and useable light.

yeah i understand that the higher the temp the less output there is, but in return you get more color. thats the reason why i went with 6000k, but having it for almost 2 years now i kinda want a little more color(a little more blue). but then i want my light to be bright! decisions decisions

Hey thanks... I'm glad we have intellegent members such as yourself to help the noobies out. Except the second like brought back no serch results??? And hey I didn't start the thread just curious as the OP so why quote me? I've searched twice for pics of the 8k bulbs and never found any... I do know how to use the advanced search button. I've used it severl times and sometimes I find what I want sometimes I don't.. the reason I didn't buy the bulbs couple weeks ago was bec I couldn't find any pics.
the search link doesn't work for some reason (apologies if that caused any confusion), but if you use the advanced search function with the key word 8000k in the 2is section, you'll actually pull up quite a few threads, and some of them might actually contain pics if you spend the time and look through them.
there's also a lighting section on the forum front page. you can also try the advanced search function with the key word 8000k in the lighting section, or spend some time and browse through it yourself.
oh, glad to help a noob out anytime. i've even linked the pages for your convenience.
thanks for reading.

The sarcasm in this thread is overwhelming.
To the OP, pictures of lighting output are usually far off from the real thing. I suggest reaching out to people in your regional forum and see if anyone can show you their setup in person. Good luck.
