Default Problem solved

Okay, the car is running and everything seems to be okay...

I took out the horn fuse to silence the annoying horn and reconnected the battery. The alarm went off like before but this time I waited for a while. It didn't recognise the key so I held it near the start button and pressed it a few times. After a few tries the alarm stopped screaming. There was this strange whirring noise behind the dash, it was like the car was preparing itself to get ready. Then the noise stopped and the car started like nothing ever happened.

Phew! I'm so relieved. Thanks for the help everyone!

"There was this strange whirring noise behind the dash" << I guess this is the steering wheel lock/unlock sound ?

so, did you take it to the dealer? what was the problem?
Do all cars behave like this when battery needs to be changed? Just want to make sure I know when time comes to get a new battery. thx

No, I didn't take it to the dealer. No idea what was the problem. I think the manual mentions something about the alarm when reconnecting the battery but I have no idea why the keys didn't work right away.
